Imagine a Flower

Wildfire Network thanks Abigael Rogers for writing this edition of Fuel.

Imagine a flower.

A yellow flower; a daisy.

Imagine it comfortably swaying in the wind, securely anchored in the ground.

A gentle breeze causes it to ripple along with the nearby grass as butterflies dance around the other wildflowers.

Then suddenly without warning, alas! The lovely flower is plucked from its place of comfort.

The man responsible holds His new prized possession carefully in His hand, softly smiling because He knows the flower’s story is not finished. At His home, He arranges the small daisy between the pages in a book and closes it. He finds a good sized stone and places it on the cover, and walks away.

Days go by and it seems as though the Gardener has forgotten about our beloved daisy.

How dare He?

First, He took it from its place of comfort, and now He abandoned it? Left it to be crushed by the pressure of change?

One afternoon just as it seemed He no longer cared for the flower, He walked to the book, removed the stone from the cover, and opened it to the page where He had carefully placed His lovely daisy. However, the pressure had changed the daisy.

It was flattened; almost paper thin. It’s soft springtime yellow had faded, and the stem became a deep green.

What good could come from this? What purpose did the Gardener have?

Though it seems there was little hope for the poor little flower, the Gardener knew what He was doing. He meticulously glued the flower to a small card and wrote a heartfelt message inside. Through the small flower’s discomfort and pain, the Gardener was creating something beautiful to be treasured by the ones He loves.

He knew that without His careful help, the flower would eventually shrivel. Without His actions of pressing the flower and having it go through difficult and radical change, the flower would’ve never lasted. Its own roots would’ve given out by the next cold season.

You, dear one, are the Daisy. God is the Gardener.

Only through His careful molding can we leave our comfort zones in order to bring his heartfelt message to those He loves. Without it, we could not stand on our own, for the roots we rely on do not last forever, only He does.

”But these only reveal the sterling core of your faith, which is far more valuable than gold that perishes, for even gold is refined by fire. Your authentic faith will result in even more praise, glory, and honor when Jesus the Anointed One is revealed. “ - 1 Peter 1:7 (TPT)
